As a life long resident and still live in the same home on Route 76. I am a graduate of Stillwater Central School in 1959 and later graduated from Cobleskill Agricultural and Technical Institute now known as Cobleskill College in 1962.
I was employed at the Leonard Hospital from 1963 until my retirement in 2002. I worked as a Medical Technologist in the laboratory.
I became the first Deputy Town Historian in 1987 and was appointed as Town Historian at the time of the retirement of Mrs. Elizabeth Abel in 1995.The historian’s office was moved from the library to the Stillwater Area Community Center in 1997. The room we are in also served as my fifth grade classroom.
I returned to being the Deputy Historian in 2006 as I am considered part time and Linda Palmieri, being full time is now the Town Historian/Curator. Our duties have not changed as we still do the same things we always have done.
I am a trustee of the New York State Association of Public Historians and involved with the regional group known as Region Five. I am working with Region Six (the northern region) on their conference. I am also very involved in the village as I serve as their historian. There are several organizations of which I serve. I am a member of the Stillwater United Church Presbyterian serving as co-chairperson of the Women’s Society. I am also a member of the Fortnightly Literary Society serving as secretary, the Stillwater Historical Society and serving as the secretary. I am the treasurer of Upton Chapter #679 of the Eastern Star.
